This song was originally written as a theme song for a retreat that took place during the Martin Luther King Jr. holiday weekend and that focused on the life and witness of Dr. King.  It underscores the fact that Dr. King's famous "I Have a Dream" speech was rooted in his understanding of the Dream of God.  In addition to working well in the context of worship and in several different liturgical moments in worship services, this song is also often used as a theme for church renewal programs, stewardship campaigns, and as music for videos dealing with issues such as hunger, racism, compassion for the poor, and social justice in a broad sense.

A catchy blue-grass/country flavored song with a very accessible chorus and call and response verses.  Fun, celebratory, and easy to learn.  Nice feminine reference to the Divine in one of the verses!

A beautiful song for benedictions, blessings, commissionings, and sending folks out into the world with good intentions and loving energy.

A wonderful new song based on the "Taste and See" text from Psalm 34.  This is widely used as an invitation to the Table and a song to sing during Holy Communion.
 

Another beautiful song from The Many that focuses, as the title makes clear, on Grace.  Reflective, profound in its simplicity both musically and lyrically, and a really lovely recording with some gorgeous harmonies.  This one could be an anthem, the sound track for a visual interpretation used liturgically, or a congregational song, especially the ending tag which takes us back to "Amazing Grace."

This is a brand new song from Gary, Lenora, and Hannah Rand and their worship band, "The Many."  Among other things this song is their powerful, soulful, and faithful musical response to the violence and death of Charleston, Paris, and Orlando.  The song is a lament, a proclamation of the biblical Truth that whatever we do to someone else, we ultimately do to ourselves, and ends with the hopeful reminder that God "so loves the world" that we can always "find our way to love."

This song proclaims the simple truth that the Divine is too big and vast to be contained by any one name or concept or even theology.  A beautiful reminder that God will always be more than our ability to comprehend or describe the Holy One.

For those for whom the word/image "King" is problematic, the word "Source" can be inserted there with the composers' consent.  We've listed the lyric this way in the second verse of the song on the sheet music even though the audio file uses "King" both times.

If in your heart is one of the most popular tunes off An Unexpected Christmas, Ana's 2010 collaboration with The Virginia Girls Choir, directed by Dan Moriarty. It can be done with equal voices, or if you have an adventurous group, with much improvisation. 

Singer/Songwriter David LaMotte is a soulful lyricist and artist who has spent many years in contemporary folk music circles.  This very singable and easy to learn song with a great groove is from David's brand new release, "It's The Other Way Around."  This tune will bring new life and energy to many congregations as they celebrate the sacrament of Holy Communion.

Brian McLaren is known widely for his many books and his signficant role as one of the pioneers and theological framers of the "Emerging Church" movement.  But music and songwriting in particular has also been a passion of Brian's for many years.  Brian took a travel sabbatical for the first part of 2016 during which he composed a number of new songs for worship.  Many of these new songs of his will soon be available primarily if not exclusively through CMP!

No one is more humble and self-deprecating when it comes to his own playing and singing than Brian, so cut him some slack if his "Garage Band" demos aren't flawless.  We or others may redo some of these songs in a more studio polished format, but we want to begin sharing his new songs with the Church right away.  Few songwriters hit the lyrical heart and essence of what CMP is all about any more deeply and consistently than Brian.

"Spirit Running" is a fun, joyful, upbeat song proclaiming the call to do justice and to care for and honor the earth.  Enjoy!
