1. Quiet Place
    By: The Many

Quiet Place is from the EP, Have Mercy, from The Many and has been featured as the theme music for Lament Together, the Wednesday night online gatherings hosted by The Many. This is a beautiful, meditative song that can help prepare our hearts and minds to be still, to seek God in the quiet and to express our desire to know God and to learn God’s way. It is perfect as a frame for prayer, or as a prayer response. The piano score alone is an effective underscore to times of lament or congregational prayer. Useful throughout the church year, this song is particularly effective in Lent or Holy Week. Learn More

  3. Praying
    By: Brian McLaren

From Brian McLaren:  "This was another older song that I rewrote during my sabbatical.  It attempts to take prayer out of its box, and let a more mature contemplative spirituality invade and enrich all of our lives, so that we truly "pray without ceasing."  I'm especially happy about the line, "Death is my life praying" (along with the reference to death in "Praise to the One") because I think we need to get more comfortable with the reality of death, to integrate it into our spiritual lives, and to stop reducing it to an enemy.  It is, like all profound things, both an enemy and a friend."

From CMP: Brian McLaren was on a road Sabbatical for the first 8 months of 2016.  During this time away from the grind of constant travel and preparation for live events Brian wrote, rewrote, compiled, and recorded demos (not finished studio recordings) of 21 songs.  9 of these demos are currently available here on the CMP site, and we are in the process of creating lead sheets and piano arrangements for them.  If you would like to purchase this entire collection of Brian's demo's, lyrics, and some notes he wrote about each song (21 songs for $18), please email Bryan Sirchio, CMP Lead Designer, and he will send you a link you can use to purchase Brian's entire collection.

  4. Prayer Of The Unbound Soul
    By: Ken Medema

A new CHORAL OFFERING by Ken Medema! On this journey in life, we travel fraught paths. We endure unspeakable wounds, relentless threats, and deep sadness. But if we look closely, we see that God is with us through these untrodden paths as the Light that does not surrender and the Song that does not cease. God is always granting us a next verse and is always wrapping us up in encircling love. In this space, we are unbound, freed souls. This S.A.T.B. piece is a prayer of gratitude to God for that healing, redemptive space and steadfast presence in this life. It features original music by Ken Medema and text by Cathy Chamblee, arranged for choir by Ken and Cathy with piano accompaniment and optional cello. Because it was composed during the pandemic, there is no performance recording available, but you may enjoy a free MIDI-generated mp3 to acquaint yourselves with the anthem. This piece can be used in a variety of worship settings and is a MUST HAVE for its highly accessible choral writing and its compelling, lovely musical message. Learn More

  6. Peter's Lament
    By: Jim Martin

Especially powerful as a Good Friday/Passion Week solo. Pensive and soul-searching, with reflections of Psalm 22, Romans 7, and the Passion Story. Without using scapegoat theology, it looks at what our lack of faith does to God’s heart. Originally with soft guitar accompaniment, the new piano arrangement adds soulful versatility. Learn More

  8. Peace Be With You
    By: Christopher Grundy

Used by many congregations for years, this mid-tempo folky chorus was written to be sung during the passing of the peace. Congregations often sing through the song, pass the peace with each other during an instrumental interlude, and then sing again to close the rite. One License #CGPBwY2006 Learn More

  11. Only Love Can Heal What's Broken
    By: Brian McLaren

From Brian McLaren:  "In The Great Spiritual Migration, I propose that we imagine the local congregation as a school of love.  It's quite surprising how few songs we have that deepen our understanding of and commitment to the primacy of love;  I hope this song can help in this regard.  I also felt (aided by the strange and horrible 2016 election cycle) that we need to name greed, hate, and fear as deadly diseases of which love is the cure.  People constantly sell products and win elections using the currency of greed, hated and fear;  we need to expose that as a counterfeit currency and celebrate the power of love instead."

If you would like to purchase this entire collection of Brian's demo's, lyrics, and some notes he wrote about each song (21 songs for $18) please email Bryan Sirchio, CMP Lead Designer, and he will send you a link you can use to purchase Brian's entire collection.

  13. Only Grace
    By: The Many

Another beautiful song from The Many that focuses, as the title makes clear, on Grace.  Reflective, profound in its simplicity both musically and lyrically, and a really lovely recording with some gorgeous harmonies.  This one could be an anthem, the sound track for a visual interpretation used liturgically, or a congregational song, especially the ending tag which takes us back to "Amazing Grace."

Note:  The wonderful Gary Rand (producer, arranger, songwriter for The Many) has provided lead sheets in 2 different keys to help with differing vocal ranges.  You receive them both in one pdf when you purchase the lead sheets).

  14. One Brick At A Time
    By: Brian McLaren

This song is built on some quotes from Dorothy Day and Mother Teresa. It feels especially relevant in times when the world is falling apart . . . and it invites us to dare to believe that these unsettling times create the conditions for a new world to be built by loving hands and loving hearts. Brian McLaren (brianmclaren.net) wrote the original song, and then Fran McKendree offered his magic with this arrangement and recording: https://franmckendree.com/ Learn More

  15. On The Edge Of Tomorrow
    By: Ken Medema

Ken Medema encourages us to be thankful for the adventure ahead of us, the tough pathways behind us, and the opportunity to serve others beyond the church walls, guided all the way by God's Spirit. In the middle of this lively song, Ken gives us a new text to the well-known hymn tune, Wye Valley. The new text is a prayer for God's Spirit to guide the "living out" of our faith each day, knowing that the testament of our lives proves God's grace. This piece can be accompanied by piano alone but can also have guitar, synthesizer, drums, and organ added. It is suitable for topics related to our witness in the world and the way in which God's Spirit guides our steps. The hymn inserted in this song can be performed as a separate congregational hymn and is entitled, "Holy Spirit, Guide Us" (separate catalog item). Learn More

  16. Offering
    By: Andra Moran

A gentle mid-tempo song for dedications, offerings, stewardship, and for dedicating our lives again and again to the will and purposes of God.

Note:  Andra recorded this song in the key of B.  We felt it would be easier to play and sing in the key of C, and so the lead sheet and piano arrangements are in that key.  If you purchase the lead sheet and piano arrangement and would also like to receive these items in the original key of B, please contact us and we'll be glad to send you these at no additional charge.

  23. New Creation
    By: Lost And Found

The popular youth event duo "Lost And Found" (Michael Bridges and George Baum) sometimes refer to their music as "speed wood" music.  High energy, great sense of humor, and yet some really nice content.   Usually they perform with just acoustic guitar and electric piano, and they are always lots of fun.  This one may not make it into Sunday morning worship in a lot of congregations, but then again who knows!  Teens and kids love these guys!
