Many congregations consider themselves to be "welcoming," and that's fantastic.  But it's time to be MORE than just welcoming.  This song goes beyond welcome to the call for joyful and full participation in the community of faith. 

"More Than Welcome Here" was inspired in part by a quote that Bryan Sirchio saw tweeted...something like "Welcome is being included.  Belonging is being missed when you're not there."

This song is a reflection on Psalm 109, one of the most angry psalms. The song "Move" invites focused commitment to be active in the work of protest, healing and justice. It also names anger as a natural response to oppression, perhaps a good fuel for change.

Lost And Found's playful and funny style often works well for kids, children's choirs, and camp singalongs.  This one could definitely work in those contexts.  Lots of great Scripture references here from Matthew 13-14 also.  

The popular youth event duo "Lost And Found" (Michael Bridges and George Baum) sometimes refer to their music as "speed wood" music.  High energy, great sense of humor, and yet some really nice content.   Usually they perform with just acoustic guitar and electric piano, and they are always lots of fun.  This one may not make it into Sunday morning worship in a lot of congregations, but then again who knows!  Teens and kids love these guys!

The song is part of the "Not In Our Name" campaign that McFarland UCC has initiated to express its opposition to the separation of immigrant children from their families at U.S. borders.
